Coming soon
Effective: March 27, 2026
1. Who we are
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Codex Translation Editor and related services (“Services”) provided by Frontier R&D Ltd. (“Frontier,” “we,” “us”). The Services include the Codex website (including codexeditor.app), cloud APIs and portals we operate, and the downloadable Codex desktop application.
2. Accepting the Terms
By creating an account, paying for a subscription, downloading the application, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes the organization.
3. The Services
We provide software and infrastructure for Bible translation workflows, including AI-assisted editing, project collaboration, and related features described on our website and documentation. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Services with reasonable notice when the change is material.
The downloadable Codex application is based on open-source components, including a fork of VSCodium (MIT License) and other third-party libraries shipped with the product. Use of those components remains subject to their respective licenses as provided with the distribution.
4. Accounts and security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for activity under your account. You must provide accurate registration information and notify us promptly of unauthorized use.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Violate applicable law or infringe others’ intellectual property or privacy rights.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems without authorization, or interfere with the Services.
- Use the Services to distribute malware, send spam, or engage in deceptive practices.
- Attempt to extract training data or reverse engineer our models or Services except where applicable law forbids this restriction.
6. Your content and IP
You retain ownership of text, audio, and other materials you submit (“Customer Content”). You grant Frontier only the rights necessary to provide and improve the Services for you — for example, hosting, displaying, processing through AI APIs you enable, and supporting your projects. Frontier does not claim ownership of your scripture translation or project materials.
7. Fees
Paid plans are billed as described at checkout and in your order. Taxes may apply. Unless stated otherwise, subscriptions renew until cancelled in accordance with the billing flow. Payment processing is handled by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
8. Disclaimers
The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” AI-generated suggestions may be inaccurate; you remain responsible for reviewing translation and theological accuracy. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Frontier’s total liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services is limited to the fees you paid to Frontier for the Services in the twelve (12) months before the claim (or, if you use only free offerings, to fifty pounds sterling (£50)). We are not liable for indirect, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, except where liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.
10. Privacy and data processing
Our Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal data. Where we process personal data on behalf of your organization as a processor, our Data Processing Agreement applies when executed or incorporated by reference in an order.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Courts in England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory rights you may have elsewhere.
12. Changes
We may update these Terms. We will post the new date at the top and, for material changes, provide notice by email or in-product. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
